“The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance – it is the illusion of knowledge”.
~Daniel J. Boorstin
When looking through quotes for the opening of my message, I came across the above and It connected instantly. Presiding over the Board of Governors of the IVS Alumni Association can be compared to a voyage of discoveries. The most exciting part is the treasure trove of creative alumni found on the way and their success stories. It is almost like coming across a Pantone fan deck of three hundred and something colours and just being amazed at seeing so many colors together. Appreciating the diversity and individuality.
Yes, returning to the IVS has made me realise why IVS means so much to me. It is where I am with people who are like me in a lot of ways, we think, we analyse, we criticise, we dream, we believe, we want to be more, and yet do so in different ways. I am inspired by this newly discovered vibrance and the possibilities. The IVS Alumni Association is the platform for connecting with people who keep the spirit alive in you.
So over the next year I hope we will reconnect and learn more from each other. We have the potential to achieve so much together. I would welcome all alumni to undertake this remarkable journey. If you wish to participate in vision 2020 or our play, attend our agm or plant a tree at the new campus, help us archive IVS memorabilia or plan an alumni outing, advise on dissertations or showcase your portfolio, design a souvenir or set up an alumni gallery cafe, be part of the alumni publications or be the artist at the alumni show, do not hesitate to commit to the IVS Alumni Association.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
President, IVSAA 2011-2012
